In this class we look at an overview of the Psalms. What is the purpose of the Psalms? What do we have to know in order to understand the Psalms properly? What do we know about the men who wrote the Psalms?
In this lesson, we look at some of the Wisdom Psalms and see what kind of wisdom they teach us. We also should see some more details about Hebrew poetry and how God uses that structure to teach us.

In this class, we a couple of the Psalms that focus on the king of Israel and what we can learn from them. We will save the clearly Messianic Psalms that fit into the kingship or royal Psalms for another class.

In this class, we look at some of the Psalms that demonstrate how to properly “complain” to God. We look at Psalms 6, 12, 38, and 79.
A great many of the Psalms express trust in God. Some of them have trust in God as their central idea. These are what we want to look at today. We will use Psalms 3, 4, 23, and 121 as examples.
In this lesson we look at a few of the Psalms that focus on praising God and giving thanks to Him and see what the reasons are that are given in these Psalms. Today’s Psalms are 100, 103, 87, 148, and 136.

There are a few Psalms that have the history of God’s work with Israel as their main focus. We want to look at some of those today and see what purpose there can be for looking at this history. We will use Psalms 135, 105, 78, and 106. We may not have time to get through them all, but we will see.

In this class, we look at an example of imprecatory language (calling down curses on someone’s enemies) in Psalm 58 and discuss how this type of language fits with the teaching of Christ. Lord willing, we will look at more Psalms that focus on this type of language in the next class.

In this class, we finish our examination of the imprecatory psalms (those that ask God to bring curses on our enemies) and look at Psalms 69 and 109 in particular.

In this class, we begin looking at some of the Psalms that made prophecies about Jesus. We look at Psalms 8, 2, 16, and 40.
October 1, 2020
In this class, we look at Psalms 22, 110, and 45, which are very powerful prophecies of Jesus, the Messiah.
